Despite the challenging economic times, Oahu and Kauai Sales & Rentals finished the year strong. Oahu ended 2011 with gross revenues at 8% above goal and a net operating income at 14% above goal, and Kauai came in with a whopping 30% above goal with a net operating income of 31% above goal!
One thing learned is that rentals enhance sales, and sales enhance rentals. S&R consistently helps customers decide whether renting or purchasing makes better economic sense for them. Felix Lenchanko, Outside Sales Rep, continues to be our internal experts in helping our customers make the right decision, and happy customers result in more sales. It’s a win-win for all! Similarly, Lei Saio, Operations Supervisor on Kauai, has established strong relationships with the County and the State DOT, as reflected in the island’s year-end numbers.
A high point this year for our Oahu Rentals crew was the APEC Conference. Pulling together under difficult circumstances with last-minute instructions, our Traffic Control Technicians surpassed expectations, and client agencies gave GPRS high praises. There was also no slacking on the part of the Fencing Technicians along with the Oahu Construction team who installed 7,000 feet of fence at Ko Olina in record time. Kudos to Kenneth Young, Rentals Manager and ,Kelly Lenfest, Operations Supervisor, for a well-orchestrated performance!
Marathons also tested our crews in 2011. While Kauai passed with flying colors over a three-day period with a crew of six for the Kauai Marathon, Oahu followed past successes with its signature job, the Honolulu Marathon.
As S&R begins 2012, the rental fence business is expected to triple, Kauai should continue at a steady pace and the Oahu sales team plans to beat down the challenges of the sluggish economy. S&R has a few new tricks up its sleeve and advises all to stay tuned!
