Welcome to the inaugural issue of our newsletter, Intersections! The title was suggested by Craig Matsushige, Purchasing Manager, and symbolizes the meeting place where all divisions of G P Roadway Solutions will intersect each quarter.
Through Intersections we will meet to communicate what is happening within our company. Through Intersections we will offer opportunities for any of you to contribute interesting articles for others to read. Through Intersections we will strive to stay connected with each other! All staff will have access either via electronic version on your work computers or a hard copy version for those without easy electronic access.
For starters, here are some of the highlights of this past year:
- Multiple photovoltaic panels were installed on four of our warehouses at our Mapunapuna facility. This will save us money by reducing our electricity cost by 90% and at the same sustain our environment by reducing our carbon footprint.
- Maui opened a brand new facility on Dec. 1, 2011 in Kahului following a blessing ceremony on Nov. 30, 2011. The 8,000 square feet facility was newly built on a 24,000 square-foot lot in the new Maui Lani industrial area and will be the home for our rentals, sales and construction groups.
- Stepping out of the box on a “first”, G P Maintenance Solutions was the low bidder on the repainting of GPC’s Kapaa Asphalt Plant. Fortunately for our crew, Regina Keli’i, Senior Applicator, came to us with painting experience and is well-qualified to lead them.
- Finally, congratulations to David Takiguchi, Manager of Estimating/ Contracts, for attaining his RME (Responsible Management Employee) designation.
We should all be proud of our accomplishments this past year through our team effort and hard work. You are our most important asset and to the extent possible, we will continue to provide the necessary resources and support to help you succeed.
I would like to thank all of you for a job well done and look forward to a meaningful connection with you through an exciting, new 2012!
Best wishes to all for a prosperous New Year!
